Garrick/Milne Prize
I have rarely been interested in entering competitions, however a fellow artist suggested I entered the prestigious Garick/Milne Prize in 2000, its inaugural year. The competition was set up in memory of A A Milne, a Garrick Club benefactor and specifically called for submissions of work dealing with aspects of the performing arts. The prize aimed to rekindle a renaissance in this area of painting and stimulate public interest through an exhibition staged at Christie`s London.
I thought I would `have a go` and to my great delight was chosen as one of the finalists.
Although the competition was a great success the next Garrick/Milne Prize was not staged until 2003, again I entered and was chosen as a finalist.
